Adrian Gurney

Guitar Teacher

Adrian Gurney has been playing guitar for almost 20 years and has been a professional in the music industry for over 10.

Born and raised in Toronto, he eventually moved to Hamilton to achieve a Diploma of Jazz performance from Mohawk College. There he studied with Bob Shields, Joey Goldstein and all of the upper echelon of musicians of the faculty. He went on to perform in various commercially successful bands, touring, recording and teaching all along the way. His passion for music has never dwindled as he recently completed the Audio Engineering And Production course at Metalworks Studios. "Metalworks opened my eyes to so many different aspects of music and the music industry," says Adrian "it most definitely helped me further my pursuit of helping myself and others make music".

Teaching is one of the things he likes most about music. With over 7 years teaching experience and hundreds of students taught he continues to help people find their selves in music. He has an incredible gift for "lifting" music (the ability to play back what is being heard) and can teach and play just about any song the student brings in. "I like to have fun in lessons, theory is undoubtedly very important to becoming a musician, but the passion and enjoyment has to be there first, then learning and understanding of "theory" becomes stronger and more attainable. "My lessons are fun, educational and easy to understand. Whether you're into rock, jazz, classical, pop, country or jazz you will benefit greatly from our time together."
